Tarlan Tabar’s grotesque paintings, centering on deformed men and women, represent the chaos and brutality of this world.

These works are inspired by the movie “The Exterminating Angel” by Louis Bunuel, a story about high-society friends invited to a mansion for dinner, who soon find themselves inexplicably unable to leave. These friends become more and more savage in their interactions as the ordeal continues. Tabar’s work suggests a view of human nature where mankind harbors savage instincts and unspeakable secrets.
