In her series of paintings titled: “No One Was Around”, Ladan Tofighi captures moments of lonely individual’s everyday lives which elicits a reminder to “Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain; The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain.” Her  artistic style eliminates the bitterness of people's daily struggles and turn them into a colorful fantasy which the viewer can envision as a happy ending tale. Just like Amélie, Tofighi allows her imagination to wander around freely and observe her surroundings as it pleases her. Unlike Amélie, she is not able to change the lives of those around her for better, but Tofighi balances the vibrant colors against the distressful lives of the lonely ones to suggest an optimistic outlook of the future to everyone.
