Elahe Farzi

Born in 1984, Tehran

Elahe Farzi is a visual artist who explores the spirit and time of narrative simultaneously. In this series of paintings, Farzi depicts her mother and herself as she analyzes the similarities of what has happened to women, both among different generations and beyond geographical location.

Countless layers of paint in Farzi’s work create textures that resemble the variety of events that her characters endure in isolated scenes, with theatrical lighting and staged composition. This placelessness leaves the audience with many interpretations, and abandons its characters in the middle of an incomplete narrative.
